Context was Amazing!

I'm still sorting through the notes and thick haze that made up Context, but I do recall having a blast.

In most cases, the writing workshops were so much more than I had hoped for. The instructors and panel participants were so enthusiastic about their subjects and incredibly welcoming of other opinions. I suppose that should be a given, but I've attended many workshops in the past that were so dry and dull that it was hard to enjoy. That wasn't a problem here.

Very little writing was done, but the effects of what I learned will last quite a while.

It's Context day!

Context starts this evening!

Context is a weekend-long Scifi Fantasy Horror convention that features many workshops for writers. It's a pretty packed weekend with wall to wall seminars and panels with editors and other writers. It's so busy that at a couple times over the weekend I've had a hard time deciding which event I want to go to because there's two or three going on at the same time that really sound interesting.

It's a nice problem to have, really.

I also just checked out their sites www.contextsf.org and contextsf for an update and it looks like a couple of publishers and publications are holding late-night parties on Friday and Saturday. Those should be fun if I can stay awake that long!

It's actually here in Columbus, so I don't have to travel far and I don't have to spring for a hotel. Nice!

I haven't mentioned that it's really inexpensive have I? It is. I'll get away with the whole weekend for under $100 depending on my meal situation. Hee!

Even more exciting, there will be bunches of LJ people there. Some that I've met before are actually on a couple of panels and workshops. There are others that I haven't met yet, so hopefully our paths will cross at some point.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend. It sounds a bit like nerdy paradise.
